  • Environmental emergencies
  • Adult CPR and AED use
  • Optional modules in child CPR and AED use and infant CPR

CPR/AED Class

This is the American Heart Association “Heartsaver” CPR and AED class.

The ADULT CPR/AED class is a video-based, instructor-led course that teaches the critical skills needed to respond to and manage a choking or a sudden cardiac arrest emergency in the first few minutes until emergency medical services (EMS) arrives.  The class takes approximately four hours (depending on the number of students) and requires all participants to demonstrate their knowledge and ability to perform quality compressions and giving breaths, as well as the use of an AED.   Child and Infant CPR/AED classes are optional and take additional hours to complete so may be done in separate classes.

This CPR/AED class does NOT meet the requirements for those desiring Healthcare Provider certification.   Visit the American Heart Association website for a list of advanced CPR classes.

First aid Class

This is the American Heart Association “Heartsaver” First Aid class.

The class also takes approximately four hours to complete, depending on the number of students.  It is a video-based, instructor-led course that teaches the basics of first aid such as how to recognize a possible medical emergency, how to protect yourself when helping someone and the steps to follow until emergency medical services arrive.  The health problems covered include medical emergencies such as strokes, seizures, heart attacks, breathing problems, choking, allergic reactions, shock, environmental emergencies (heat and cold related, bites, stings, etc.) and injury emergencies.

Skills testing is done throughout the class (“finding the problem”, stopping bleeding, using epinephrine pens).
