The Sisters - Camp Sherman Fire District provides emergency
medical services to a 2000 square mile area in Deschutes, Jefferson
and Linn counties of Central Oregon.
We serve the City of Sisters, communities of Tollgate, Crossroads,
Squaw Creek Canyon Estates, Camp Sherman and Cloverdale. We
proved EMS services to patients
on
the Santiam pass to popular areas such as Hoodoo Ski Resort and Big Lake Youth Camp,
Camp Caldera, Camp Davidson, and Camp Tamarack. We also
respond to HWY 20 to milepost 76, HWY 20 to milepost 64, and HWY 126 to
milepost
10 to the west. To the east our ambulance service area extends
halfway to Bend and Redmond.The Fire District employs 9
paramedics. Under the direction of medical director Dr.
Joyce Carnes, the Sisters - Camp Sherman Paramedics
utilize state-of-the-art equipment on our ambulances. With over
90% of our calls being medically related, staying current on the
trends in emergency medicine is a priority for the Fire District.
Our newest ambulance has many new features to allow us
to better care for patients, such as radiant heating for hypothermic
patients, CPAP (continuous positive airway pressure) devices to care
for patients with COPD and acute pulmonary edema, and carbon
monoxide monitors. Our ambulances also carry state of the art
cardiac monitors which allow us to perform 12-lead ekg's, monitor
blood pressures, oxygen saturations, respirations, and carbon
dioxide levels in the blood all in one machine. We carry 30+ advanced life support medications to care for a
wide variety of
medical conditions. We transport patients to both Saint
Charles of Bend and Redmond.
